MLB's Next MASSIVE Competitive Advantage Has Arrived And The Nerds Can't Do Anything About It
This is kind of a weird spot for me because I'm not used to interviewing players and then they go and do well after. That has literally never happened in the history of Red Line radio or any other format of me interviewing professional athletes. Historically if you talk to me, you're going to get injured tomorrow. Or your team will bottom out. Or you get fucked on the next contract or maybe the team declares bankruptcy. It's not exactly science - but studies show that you're headed the wrong direction if you're talk to me.
I didn't tell Jake that when we started because I didn't want to freak him out. In fact I still haven't told him so if you're reading this Jake, now you know. This could've gone the other way.
Lucky for us it did not. Instead it's been the complete opposite since we started interviewing players this year. And now almost 4 months into the S9 rebuild, you can safely say that coming on the show is the best thing you can do for your career.
We talked to Zac Gallen before his August 8th start. Since then he's gone 41.1 scoreless and is chasing down Jake's 2nd half ERA title.
Justin Turner is hitting .397/.458/.619 since we recorded our interview in Mid-August.
Dylan Cease recorded with us on 8/22. He then hung a loss against the Orioles on 8/23 which would make you think this isn't true. But really that was just to lull in the haters because he gave up 3 hits in his next two starts including 8.2 innings of no hit ball in a must win Labor Day weekend game at home against the Twins. If anything this is my strongest case because he's on a warpath to win the AL Cy Young and I think he'll use to last 4-5 starts to put him over the hump. That's a bold prediction.
Luis Castillo? Comes on last week then throws 6 scoreless this weekend.
Country Music star Jordan Davis comes on in August and now he's got 3 songs in the Country Music top 40. Although that has literally nothing to do with us, I'm on a roll so don't slow me down.
Boras comes on at the All Star Game then pulls off the biggest trade in MLB history while negotiating
Jordan Montgomery was literally in the Yankees clubhouse in the process of getting traded while we recorded with him on deadline day. Since leaving New York, he's 5-0 in 6 starts with a 1.47 ERA in 36.2 innings. The Cardinals have won every start and are in commanding lead of the NL Central.
Even Liam Hendricks has converted 12 of 13 save opportunities since coming on in July and the one time he didn't, Adam Engel dropped a routine foul ball to end the game. A two run homer followed and that's quite literally his only blown save since being our guest.
I told you this was an awkward blog to write but I need to get it out there that coming on Starting 9 can and will change your career. That may be cocky or whatever but I'm just looking at the numbers. That's the nice thing about data. We're out here backing it up one interview at a time. If there's someone on your club he needs a boost, send him our way. We're open for business every Tuesday and Thursday morning and we're only getting stronger.
