Spittin' Chiclets Took Over Boston For New Year's And Rear Admiral Made It Rain
The Spittin' Chiclets gang rang in the new year with bells on, celebrating the calendar change during our most recent road trip to Boston. The crew set up shop at the InterContinental Hotel for a pretty slammed five days in the town where Chiclets came to be. We banged out great interviews with Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery (dropped Tuesday) and Bruins legend Zdeno Chara (coming soon), put on our sold-out live show at the Wilbur Theater, watched the Bs beat the Pens at a very festive Fenway Park, then recorded Ep. 423 before going our separate, hungover ways.
Saturday afternoon, I headed out with Pasha and Fish to show them around Boston while they recorded my exploits. We took a stroll through the North End by my old high school stomping grounds for some war stories and a mini-tour ("that's where the FEDs had a bug", "best steak & cheese in the city is Dino's", "The Brinks Job happened right here"). It was in front of CCHS* that I made the mistake of pointing out that I actually played hoop in HS (freshman & JV squads), thus planting a demon seed in Pasha's head.
*----shoutout to the late Bobby D.
From there we took the heel-toe express across the temporary bridge to C'town now that the "Close The Fucking Bridge!" Bridge has finally been dismantled after miraculously not having a devasting structural collapse for the last, oh, 40+ years.
This is where the Harbor meets the Charles and why I don't pronounce my 'r's.
Known in the North End as the Charlestown Bridge and in Charlestown as the North End Bridge, the rusting relic burst into global consciousness in the Oscar-nominated smash hit THE TOWN. Starring John Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Jeremy Renner, and director Ben Affleck, the film is about a crew of Townie bank robbers and carries an extra air of authenticity thanks to Affleck seeking input from residents who plied that particular trade. He also put many locals to work in speaking roles or as extras.
But I digress.
We caught up with a couple of my old pals for a chat and a quick loop around the 'hood before schlepping over to Fenway for a quick 'twirl' at the media skating session then calling it a day. I think I made Fish shit his knickers a few times in the back seat during our driving adventures so I hope Pasha makes a Director's Cut of this video with an extra of footage from riding shotgun with me as I go into full Masshole mode driving from Chucktown to Southie to Fenway to Fort Point.
The live show was a legit Top 3 Night for me and I just want to say 'thank you' once again to everyone who came out to support me and the pod. It means the world to me.
Enjoy the video. And I'll see you back on the court in South Florida next month.
