Tank's Ballpark Tour: Globe Life Park Home of the Texas Rangers
Globe Life Park is the newest park in MLB. It opened during the 2020 pandemic and is the third home of the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas. The stadium has hosted two World Series and an All-Star Game in its short existence, including the 2020 bubble World Series during the COVID-19 pandemic. It also hosted the Rangers' first World Championship season in 2023.
The Rangers moved to Arlington in 1972, after a decade as the "New Washington Senators." During their first two decades, they played in a converted minor league stadium, called Arlington Stadium, which was previously known as Turnpike Stadium. The summers were hot, but the Rangers were not, as they did not reach the postseason until 1996.
The second stadium in Arlington, which carried several names, opened in 1994. It saw the Rangers' first October baseball, as well as two World Series in 2010 and 2011, both of which saw Texas fall short. However, the summers remained hot in North Texas, leading to the building of a new ballpark in 2020 with a retractable roof to combat the often unforgiving Texas summers. The old park next door remains open for football and is home to Dallas' UFL team.
