Coastal Carolina Is Gonna Compete For A National Championship In Football In 2021
Big Ev: Coastal Carolina OVER 10 wins
Technically they’re playing football so by definition they will compete for a national championship right? Maybe not this year but if/when the 12 team playoff gets implemented if they can keep this mojo they should be one of the teams competing for a playoff berth. Unfortunately that won’t be this year but I needed a good title for this blog/video so sue me. Some people think Coastal Carolina caught lightning in a bottle but I’m here to tell you they’re here to stay. They return 19 of 22 starters including 9 on offense and 10 on defense. Grayson McCall is an awesome, super versatile QB who can run the speed option and make all the throws. They also bring back legit NFL prospect Isaiah Likely and add two power 5 transfers. Jamey Chadwell is still at the helm when a lot of people (myself included) thought he would end up leaving for a bigger and better job. They face a Sun Belt schedule where they have a very good chance of being favored in every single game. If Vegas is giving me this regular season win total with 2 games to play with and still leave with a push I’m all over it. This is a legit top 25 college football team. I LOVE over 10 wins for one of my alma maters, the Chanticleers.
Mintzy: Louisiana Tech OVER 4 wins
LA Tech brings in former Oklahoma and West Virginia QB Austin Kendall to take over the offense under Skip Holtz for the 2021 season. They struggled last year but also faced a ton of injuries and have a lot of opportunity to improve in a very weak Conference USA. They‘ve been bowl eligible 7 years in a row and they’re in a really solid spot to bounce back after a 5-5 season that ended by getting blown out in the New Orleans Bowl 38-3 to Georgia Southern.
Brandon Walker: Indiana UNDER 8.5 wins
As much as I love Tom Allen i think i have to agree with Brandon here. As much as they caught some magic last season after that controversial win over Penn State early in the season, they seem due to regress. The sad truth is the most impressive game they had last year wasn’t even a win, it was losing a close game to Ohio State that realistically they should have gotten blown out. We saw that come to fruition when they got exposed in their bowl game against Ole Miss. I usually try to take bowl games with a grain of salt but if you watched the game they difference in speed and athleticism was pretty clear and Ole Miss exposed that on both sides of the ball. Indiana under 8.5 wins seems like a rock solid play.
