Now This Is How You Properly Celebrate The Heck Out Of A Free Throw

In-frickin-credible. I mean just think of the pressure this kid had on him to hit that show. 7.2 seconds left. Game on the line, either winning or losing 27-14. You hit this shot and that’s how legends are born. And when you want to talk about legends of the middle school b-ball game, the conversation starts and ends with this kid. (Sidenote: B-ball is short for basketball).

Real talk, I would appreciate some context here. Need to know what got everyone so dang hype about this free throw. Because it wasn’t just the split. The rest of the team went bananas. The parents went bananas. Hell, even a kid on the other team gave a little clap action. If this is a special needs kid, just let the record show that I am as pro-split as it gets and on board with this power move 100%. But there’s also a chance this kid really just loves to get buck wild for free throws. And at the end of the day, don’t we all? There’s a certain beauty to the art of a free throw, but unfortunately it doesn’t get the respect it deserves anymore. I feel like kids these days look up to guys like Steph Curry and LeBron James. They focus on the deep 3’s and the massive dunks. Nobody ever wants to talk about who hit the best free throws last night on SportsCenter. It’s strictly buckets from halfcourt and dunks from the foul line. I’m just glad to see there’s a new generation coming through the ranks that will bring back a resurgence of the free throw and not let it become a dying breed.

P.S. – This is a very real issue to me.

I hate to see people get rewarded for failure. I hate to see people get rewarded just because they tried. If you miss a free throw, especially as bad as DeAndre Jordan missed here, you should be barred from any low fives or high fives or any combination of fives. You should be forced to feel shame and isolation after missing a shot like that. Just saying. You don’t see hockey players going down the line if they miss a shootout attempt, do you?

P.P.S. – If the original is old and I’m behind the times with this one, well then I guess I’ll just have to chalk it up to not keeping up with middle school basketball as closely as I should.
