The Doug Gottlieb Disaster Train Rolls On, This Time Demanding An Apology "From Every Fucking One Of You When His Team Starts Winning"
Awful Announcing - “I don’t know if I’ve reached my fill of social media, but I think it’s worthy of a discussion,” he said. “Last night, we’re tied at the half and my team, we lost to Oakland, the Golden Grizzlies. It was our 18th consecutive loss. And it’s really interesting. I love that people are paying attention. You get people who troll you, people who post things that we’ve lost 18 in a row.
“It’s fine that it’s on me. It’s fine. It’s what you sign up for. You’re a head coach in college, people make it about you — and it is. It’s my team. I represent all of us. I do think it’s interesting how nobody seems to want to dig in at all and give any sort of context.”
“Again, this is what happens when you’re a writer. Honestly, this is what it exposes. It exposes that people who are writers, people who cover sports that haven’t been around a team, honestly, it’s embarrassing how little they know,” Gottlieb says. “I got off the phone with two former head coaches who are now broadcasters… They understand; they get it. And the radio show isn’t even a thing for them because most high-major coaches have a radio show.
“But, I think it exposes how little people understand about one, this level of college basketball; how fragile it is when you lose your top two players… And so what my challenge to these people is, when we start winning, I want a mea culpa from every f*cking one of you. That’s what I want.”
For those of you new here, you can catch up with all the Doug Gottlieb disaster right here.
In a nutshell it's been an absolute disaster for this guy since he got hired. From getting dunked on by Schefter, being the sweatiest human on the planet, tweeting memes about not working, going winless in December and January, having student sections taunt him, and losing to a Division 2 team he called Nobody U, it just keeps getting worse folks.
And just when you think he can turn it around, or maybe not even turn it around just that people will start forgetting what an absolute disaster the program is and the story will go away, he puts his foot in his mouth again. This time demanding apologies from people when they start winning. Doug, I hate to break it to you man but you might be gone before you can cash in on those apologies. It's been an awful run for you and things don't look to be getting any brighter, especially when you are juggling a coaching job with a radio show. These rants aren't helping you man! Get in film room, get off the radio, and start changing your ways because the way it's going now it ain't working. If you don't change it up you'll be out of a job.
Final thought ... It's laughable he actually thinks this is going to be his Danny Hurley "better get us now" moment. The Green Bay Phoenix and Doug Gottlieb will never get to dunk back on all these haters ... NEVER EVER.
