A 22-Year-Old Girls JV Basketball Coach Was Fired For Some Reason After Lacing Up And Playing In A Game Against High Schoolers

WAVY — Arlisha Boykins, a 22-year-old former assistant coach on the Churchland JV girls basketball team, impersonated a 13-year-old player that played for the Truckers.

The student athlete was out of town at a club basketball tournament, parents of the girl told WAVY10 Sports Director Craig Loper.

The game was Saturday, Jan. 21 in Suffolk against Nansemond River.

Boykins is no longer an employee of Portsmouth Public Schools.

Back in my day, coaching like this would have been applauded. Oh, you're skipping a JV game you think you're too good for to go play in a tournament with your shitty AAU team? That's fine, coach is going to suit up and show you how to maybe score a bucket or two and have a snowball's chance in hell of making the varsity team one day.

In the video of Arlisha Boykins playing in the game she's supposed to be coaching, she's swatting kids into the fourth row and giving her 14-year-old opponents the and-one signal. Say what you will about her level of competition, but you can't knock the competitive spirit.

There has to be a Division II school out there who could use a spark off the bench for the stretch run of the season. Get this girl enrolled and on the floor because she's still got it and no longer has any contractual obligations to Portsmouth Public Schools.
