Frank Walks Episode 24: Bobby Valentine presented by BodyArmor
In August, I had the chance to walk with Mets legend Bobby Valentine. Perhaps the second-best manager in team history, Bobby V, guided the Mets from 1996 to 2002. This included two unforgettable playoff runs, reaching the NLCS in 1999 and the World Series in 2000. Before managing the Mets, Bobby Valentine played with the California Angels, where he suffered a devastating broken leg when his cleat got caught in the chain-link fence. Valentine also managed the Texas Rangers and Boston Red Sox. However, he might be most famous for his time as a manager in Japan before and after his Mets' tenure. While in Japan, Bobby Valentine was the subject of an award-winning documentary, "The Zen of Bobby V," which gave an inside look at his experience managing the Chiba Lotte Marines.
Today, Bobby Valentine is an announcer for the Los Angeles Angels. As we walked the concourse around Anaheim Stadium, we discussed his career and the state of the game. This episode is presented by BodyArmor.
