Deontay Wilder Fucked Up My Trip To Saudi Arabia
DAZN was so fucking thrilled with our coverage last week of Canelo vs Saunders that Robbie and I were tentatively scheduled to attend August's matchup in Saudi Arabia of Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua to unify the heavyweight division.
It was shaping up to be the biggest fight in not-so-recent memory, and my very-recent friendship with both Tyson Fury and Matchroom's Eddie Hearn all but guaranteed me full access to anything I wanted while I was overseas.
Then along comes Deontay Wilder.
To explain the wrench he threw in the works, I cut a quick video after I got done with The Twisted History of Popes, and I hope it explains to the casual boxing fan what the hold-up is and what the options for all the fighters involved are going forward.
There will be more clarity hopefully by the weekend, so I will follow up when I preview Saturday's matchup of unbeaten light-welters trying to unify that division with Scotland's Josh Taylor taking on Jose Ramirez.
Take a report.
