Movin' On Up To Barstool HQ #3 (And Things I Stole From Coworkers In The Process)
Barstool HQ #2, the first in NYC, wound up being far too small. And honestly that’s the best sort of problem to have because it meant Barstool had grown exponentially. It also meant people with MBAs working from stools squeezed between chip racks, PR people sitting at a folding table 2 inches from the elevator, and bloggers like me with no desk. It gave me flashbacks to middle school… walking in to the cafeteria & everyone’s already sitting and oh God where do I sit, all the seats are taken, shit I think something is stuck in my braces & I can hear the girls laughing at my high-water pants….
Ah, where was I? The move! Right. Anyway, it was time to move onto Barstool HQ #3, and if you know anything about HQ #2 you know it was a MESS. Puddles of pee under the toilets, piles of shirts, knick knacks, & miscellaneous gear growing like amoebas into every crevice, cheeseballs askew… so this was no small task.
…But somehow in the span of a few days we sorted through & cleared it out. I listened to Big Cat & PFT feeling sentimental as they went through their things, rediscovering items that’d gotten lost. They decided to donate most of the pile to a charity auction (but the stuff they took is now spreading at the new office). In fact, everyone was finding old stuff & it got me thinking that even though I didn’t have a desk I didn’t want to leave anything behind. Once I figured people had the items they really wanted I went full scavenger & came up with some gems for my first desk spot at HQ #3.
Among the most important items, a large axe, a giant brain, and a photo of Riggs with Tiger Woods. But best of all, I had fuel for the journey with Devour pizza. Devour’s always been there in our freezer, even when we were on a Super Bowl bus to Atlanta, & has come in handy on late nights at the office & whenever I’m hungry (& especially when I’m maybe, possibly stealing my coworkers things during a hectic move)… so the new pizzas were a welcome option.
It didn’t hurt that when we got to the new office the kitchens weren’t quite set up yet, but we had a little pizza oven so I could cook some up for my new desk neighbors. Hand up, I ate a whole half of the creamy garlic flavor before anyone else could get to it. Legit good AF. So thanks #DEVOURpizza for sustaining us through the craziness & helping us get to HQ #3 while we stay #1.
