Despite The Horrendous Name, Great Balls Of Fire Was WWE's Show Of The Year
On episode 4.5 of From The Top Rope today, Carrabis and I recapped last night’s Great Balls of Fire. Spoiler alert: We fucking loved it because it was awesome. Brock and Joe looked like they were shooting, Roman (probably) turned heel, Braun Strowman existed, and every match delivered. Something we DIDN’T discuss, because I just found it out, is that the current rumor that Summerslam’s main event is Brock Lesnar vs Samoa Joe vs Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. In which case, I’ll have the biggest wrestling boner of all time. I mean, that sounds like something straight out of the fuckin’ Attitude Era. Hoss City.
That’d also give me hope that the company is reeeaaally understanding exactly how Brock Lesnar should be used: in short, shoot, sprint-style matches, or in multi-man matches. Look at Lesnar vs Cena vs Rollins from the Royal Rumble a few years back. That may be the best triple threat match of all time! Anyway, enjoy this episode of From The Top Rope and be sure to tune in on Wednesday for our usual weekly recap episode. We attended the Summerslam Heatwave Tour at Madison Square Garden on Friday where AJ Styles won the United States Championship off Kevin Owens, so we’ll have our first hand account of that, and fun stories from the rest of the show. A preview…
