If You Don't Think Brenda Frese Deserves Being Named AP National Coach Of The Year You're Just Wrong

Very few coaches across any sport possess the level of consistency and high standard for success as Brenda Frese has in her 18 years at Maryland. Out of all the college football coaches, this year's Associated Press Coach of the Year goes to Maryland Women's Basketball coach, Brenda Frese -  for the second time actually. 

Earlier this year, Brenda was also named the ESPN National Coach of the Year and the Athletic's National Coach of the Year. Geno Auriemma (of the Connecticut Huskies women's team), Muffet McGraw (head women's basketball coach at Notre Dame) and Kim Mulkey (head coach of the Baylor Bears) are the only other coaches to win the award multiple times. So yea...we'd say she's a good coach and amongst some good company.

Despite the fact that her team started the season without its five top starters, Frese was able to lead her team to a 26-3 record, and a spot in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. 

"It’s special. Obviously its going to be one I never forget," said Frese, who also was AP coach of the year 19 years ago when she was at Minnesota. "What makes it so special is having this journey through a pandemic with the most selfless group of people you could go through a pandemic with. No one had Maryland doing anything this season after the graduation and losses of all five starters last year."
