The Former Under Secretary Of The Army Getting Confronted By A Half-Naked Senator For Repealing Don't Ask, Don't Tell Is A WILD Story

In honor of Veterans Day, Kate and I had Patrick J. Murphy on Out & About. Murphy is an Iraq War veteran, a former congressman, the former Under Secretary of the Army, AND one of main guys responsible for spearheading the repeal of 'Don't ask, Don't tell.' He spoke with us at length about the entire process involved in doing so, why he felt compelled to work towards ending the policy, and the obstacles he faced along the way. He also shared some deeply personal stories from both himself and other service members impacted by Don't Ask Don't Tell. Including this one...

^^Not the direction I was expecting that story to go, but it's wild nonetheless. Imagine being confronted by a naked man who's arguing against gay rights? In a locker room of all places? You can't make that kind of irony up. I wish I knew he was. I did some research after Murphy got off the phone and I think I know who it is, but I'm not going to out him. He'll do that to himself eventually.

Kate also got candid about her experience serving under DADT in the Marine Corps...

And Murphy shed some light as to why he felt compelled to lead the charge to repeal it in the first place.

The entire episode was awesome and I highly recommend giving it a listen if you have the time. Especially given the fact that it's Veterans Day. If you don't you're not only homophonic, you hate the troops. ZBT did an episode a while back where Chaps spoke with one of his former Marines who was kicked out under DADT that's also worth a listen. I'll add in more tweets from our interview to this blog as they come out. Be sure to subscribe like and listen to the pod HERE
