Red Line Radio EP824: "The Saugus Noodle" Featuring Former Mets GM Steve Phillips

#SonsOfUribe in the house!!!!!  This week on Red Line Radio we had an awesome interview breaking down MLB’s Winter Meetings.  It wasn’t so much a preview as much as a behind the scenes look at what take place when 30 GMs and 100s of scouts and other front office execs are together in the same building.

UNFORTUNATELY this interview was recorded about 30 mins before Zack Wheeler’s wife signed with Philly and spurned the White Sox higher financial offer.  Fuck him, hope he gets shelled.  Disclaimer: we didn’t know the White Sox *actually* had the higher offer while we recorded, so that must be taken into account while listening.

Nonetheless, questions for Steve included:

– What is the environment like?  Is everyone slinging trades while at the bar?
– Has he ever fucked something up at the Winter Meetings?
– What does a good GM do at the meetings?  A bad one?
– and of course, does Rick Hahn have ANY tricks up his sleeve this weekend?

Steve had a few AWESOME stories.  Shit like stalking agents while he was waiting to get pen on paper for free agents and loading up his suite with the most high end alcohol possible because he refused to be the guy that invited other executives in his suite for them to find a shitty spread.

It was a lot of fun and Steve was a fantastic guest.  But I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that for the first 10 or so minutes of the show, we broke down my heroic conquering of the Jared “The Saugus Rocket” Carrabis in our battle of who is the biggest Gym Class Hero asshole on Cyber Monday.

In case you missed it, here’s the Stool Scenes footage of my dominating performance.  Feel free to fast forward to about the 17 min mark because that is all the stuff that matters.  And yes, my arm is still sore as FUCK.

But we also gots to talking about all other things Chicago sports.  For instance, the Bears are BBBBAAAACCCCCCKKKKKK!!!!!

Beat Dallas tonight?  Direct path to the playoffs.  Just win out.  Oh yeah, and Chief had a meltdown about the Hawks and is demanding they fire Colliton and Stan.

All in all, it was one of the most fun shows we’ve recorded.  There’s a ton of laughs in here.  All gas, no brakes.
