BREAKING: We Just Had Our First Marriage Proposal On A Barstool Podcast This Morning
Proposal at 35:20 mark
As the loyal listeners of The Podfathers may have noticed, we didn’t put out an episode this week due to “scheduling conflicts”. However that was a little white I told to my podfamily and I apologize for that. The real reason was because a Stoolie had reached out to me a few weeks ago and said he wanted to propose to his girlfriend on the podcast. They met at a Barstool Foam Party years ago, became a couple, moved around the country together, and he was ready to pop the question. He figured there was no better place to ask the question than through the company that brought them together in the first place. Fckin Foam Parties have gone the way of the dodo bird, so I guess the next best thing was Barstool’s closest example to a grown up podcast. He wanted to pop the question on the pod while they were on vacation and we were happy to hold of until a Saturday release.
The fact that two people are now engaged because Dave Portnoy’s big brain decided to get into the EDM game in mind bottling. And the fact that Gaz, Feitelberg, Devlin, Dante The Don, etc. may have had a small hand in two people becoming married is flat-out scary. Especially since this was probably what the scene looked like the night they met.
But that’s what makes Barstool Barstool. For all the shit the Stool gets about a joke gone awry or stuff the vocal 1% says, there is an army of normal people that have formed a community and are the reason this company has gone from a free newspaper in Boston to a multimedia company valued at $100+ million. There’s something truly awesome about that as well as the story about these two crazy kids.
Viva la Stool. Viva Elliott and Sophie.
Congrats to the happy couple and enjoy paying for and planning the wedding! Just kidding, enjoy that post-engagement glow as long as possible. We’ll try to get them on next week’s podcast to hear how it all went down. Hopefully Chaps’ wife will pop the question to him before then or things may get awkward.

Also on the episode, Chaps also gave us a thorough breakdown of his 7 day “vacation” to Disney and how he had the greatest Dad Moment ever.
