Watching Waffle House Shooting Hero James Shaw Jr. Get Surprised By His Idol Dwyane Wade On Ellen Was AWESOME

Myself, and I imagine a good chunk of Stoolies, don’t tune into Ellen all that often. But this video was too good not to share. I can watch good things happening to James Shaw Jr. all day, everyday. In an instant, he went from a random civilian living his life to a hero saving people from a gun-wielding madman. James hearing his basketball idol call him a real life American hero and a role model for his children must have been an out of body experience.

We can talk all day about whether athletes are role models or heroes or whatever. But there is no debating whether people like James Shaw Jr. as well as the people that protect us on a daily basis are heroes. Seeing them getting taken care of is a reminder that everything hasn’t gone to shit in this crazy world.
