If You Thought Marvel Was Gonna Slow Down For Even A Second, You've Got Another Thing Coming - Watch The Trailer For 'Ant-Man And The Wasp' Now
You know, after my heart was ripped out of my chest and punched back in and then ripped back out and then punched back in and then ripped back out by ‘Avengers: Infinity War’…I needed this. I needed a fun-loving Paul Rudd romantic comedy where the fate of the universe isn’t on line. One where a giant ant plays an electronic drum kit for some reason, and the enemies are stopped by tossing a giant salt shaker in their way. It’s going to be a real nice change of pace before we remember shit has to get serious again come time for ‘Captain Marvel’ in November. Hell, the first ‘Ant-Man’ kinda served the same purpose when it was sandwiched between ‘Age of Ultron’ and ‘Civil War’. Marvel can’t do anything even slightly negative in their films without reminding their audience to have fun with the little bug man that makes all of the jokes, and meanwhile DC’s got Superman snapping necks while Batman ties criminals up and BRANDS them. Literally brands them.
I’m a sucker for all things comic books – Batman especially – but Jesus Christ man, if you can’t realize DC’s mistakes I don’t know what to tell ya.
‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ takes place years prior to ‘Infinity War’, directly in the fallout of ‘Captain America: Civil War’, so nothing of consequence that happened last weekend will come into play here. Scott Lang is confirmed for ‘Avengers 4′, however, so there is the possibility that a post-credits scene will jump forward to the, uh…to when that thing happens at the end of ‘Infinity War’, and brings our bite-sized hero out of house arrest and into the fold there. I’m betting on that happening. The continued focus on the Quantum Realm in this trailer makes me think that could also play a factor in 2019’s team up movie, but that’s purely speculation.
What I do know is that I’ll be in the theater for this on opening night, and that the wait from the credits rolling to the post-credits scene may feel even longer than it did for ‘Infinity War’.
