A Feud For The Ages Is A-Brewin' Over At Barstool Heartland

While I was over at the Barstool Heartland office in Indianapolis in the days leading up to WrestleMania, I was asked by my good pals Jeffery Vibbert and Rip Rogers if I’d like to make an appearance on an episode of “Things You Missed” for the “Hold of the Week” segment. Obviously, I accepted (I’m a camera whore and will take any opportunity I can to be involved in wrestling content), but things went awry quickly. Nick Maraldo stormed the set after Vibbs expressed a little displeasure with having to advertise Beard Szn shirts, tossed me to the side, and chokeslammed the Warhammer through a table.

The next week, as Rip Rogers was visiting a badly injured Vibbs in the hospital, the chaos continued.

That rat bastard Rip Rogers set Vibbs up! Maraldo stormed into room, bent a bedpan over young Jeff’s cranium, and set his recovery time back tenfold. Or so we thought…

BAH GAWD JEFFERY “THE COCKROACH” VIBBERT HAS RETURNED!!! DID YOU HEAR THE SICKENING CRACK OF THAT HOCKEY STICK AROUND MARALDO’S SPINE?!

Seriously, hell of a promo from Vibbs there. The production too, cutting back and forth between Spine Celly and a Goldberg-esque entrance from Jeff, that was legit awesome. Shoutout (probably) Evan Foxy on that. These videos have been molding a genuinely compelling professional wrestling angle by discarding the WWE’s “Don’t try this at home” message, and taking one of the best elements of the Attitude Era that I feel we don’t see enough of today…backstage brawls. Then, mix in the comedy of Barstool (Nick’s “I did” in that last video killed me) and we’ve got a gold mine on our hands. Am I a little worried about the well-being of my friends as they attempt to one-up themselves every week? Uh, yeah. Vibbs is probably gonna be jumping off the Heartland balcony like Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka at some point in the next week. But that’s the biz, baby, and apparently…we’re in it.

P.S. Ty Schmitt as Jim Ross also deserves major props. The voice of a generation.
