Aqib Talib Blames a Sportswriter for the Broncos' 5-11 Season

I guess you have to hand it to Aqib Talib. That is a bold move blaming a sportswriter for his team’s last place season two years after they won a Super Bowl. It’s positively Trumpian. And like DJT, it’s got Talib’s base all sorts of fired up:

If anything, Talib actually kind of out-Trumps Trump on this one. The Donald will clap at Hollywood and CNN, but I don’t think we’ve seen him blame Alec Baldwin if the Stock Market drops or say it’s all Anderson Cooper’s fault when North Korea acts up.

So kudos to Aqib for having the brass ones to pin the Broncos failures on some goon who writes for the Denver Post because he didn’t say nice things about their five wins. I mean, a less confident man might have put the blame on John Elway for saddling the team with Brock Osweiler, Trevor Simian and Paxton Lynch. Or their -17 turnover ratio. Or the fact Talib’s defense was 24th so soon after carrying the decaying corpse of Peyton Manning to a championship. And maybe took some ownership of the fact he got run out of games for snatching Michael Crabtree’s chain off his neck. But that’s not the Aqib Talib way.

All that said, the Broncos can feel free to release him anytime. Which is what is expected to happen since they can take $11 million right off their books if they do. Because I love this guy. Yes, he could do a better job at ignoring the noise and accountability might not be his strong suit. But this press-hating, chain-grabbing, gun-discharging nutcase balls out, he’s one of my favorite NFL players and can play corner for me any time. Hopefully going to war with the Denver media will be just the thing that makes it happen.
