Jalen Carey Has Been Invited to Play in Lavar Ball's Junior Basketball Association
I know I’m not the resident Big Baller Brand blogger here, but this is some interesting news in terms of college basketball. Jalen Carey, a 2018 Syracuse commit, is the first major name to show that he’s been invited to play in the JBA.
Carey is a 6’3″ point guard from New Jersey who is ranked as the 37th commit on ESPN and 56 on 247. Carey is an athletic point guard who is a decent shooter. He’s part of a top-15 recruiting class with Darius Bazley (an All-American from Cincinnati) and Buddy Boeheim (yes, you know who he is).
If you missed the announcement of the JBA, it’s of course the brain child of LaVar Ball. It will be fully funded by BBB – and maybe Clem since I’m pretty sure he’s willing to go back to Eastern Europe for these guys – and the salary for players will be between $3,000-10,000 per month.
I have no idea if Carey is taking the invite serious or who else has been invited to play in this league. What I do know is this is the first person to make it public and it’ll be interesting to see if anyone else does. I mean, I know I’m a bit out of the game, but what does the eye emoji mean exactly? That’s a good thing, right? Fuck, I feel old.
Anywho, here’s your obligatory Jalen Carey mixtape. Syracuse fans, just something to keep an eye on but if I had to bet I’d say he’s wearing orange next year.
