Tom Brady's Earliest Memory Of Minnesota Is Having A Chew And Puking

(PFT) Via Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, Brady remembered his first experience with chewing tobacco while fishing with his uncles. “I’ve had a lot of great memories,” Brady said of Minnestoa. “I remember my uncles gave me chewing tobacco for the first time when I was really young. We were fishing. This is a pretty good story. We went sunfishing, and on the way home, I said, ‘I want to try it.’ They said, ‘Look, if we give it to you, you can’t spit it out until you get home.’ “It was like a 30-minute to my grandpa’s farm. So of course, they give it to me and within five minutes, I’m outside the car throwing up all over the place. I don’t think I’ve had much chewing tobacco since then.” Brady’s uncles deserve credit for being good uncles, and helping broaden young Tom’s horizons. Even if it meant washing the truck.

Damn, finally a chink in my love for Tom Brady. For those who don’t dip there’s a certain brotherhood that’s attached to it. It doesn’t matter how shitty a person is, if they’ve got a tin on them you instantly think “actually, you know what, I’m sure he’s a pretty good dude.” It’s kinda like Brian Cox on Hard Knocks a while back where he said everyone needs a vice. If you’ve got my vice then you can be in a foxhole with me.

So this hurts to hear that Tom Brady couldn’t hack it. Don’t get me wrong, I was under no illusion that 40 year old Tom Brady cleaned tobacco out of his teeth with his organic toothpaste, but I liked to think that maybe young Tb12 had a chew or two to calm down from winning the Rose Bowl.

Life is all about being able to relate to someone, for instance when The Rock posts about getting drunk on tequila on Instagram I’m like “shit me and Dwayne Johnson are basically the same person,” and I’d always hoped that maybe Tom and I shared this dip habit. It appears that’s not true. I still love Tom, but this hurts a bit.

PS – The first time I ever dipped was at a Durfee High School football game in like 7th grade and I had to be carried out of the stands. Didn’t puke though! Iron stomach.
