Expert Warns That Hackers Could Hack Into Sex Robots And Have Them Kill People
Newsweek- Sex robots could be hijacked by hackers and used to cause harm or even kill people, a cybersecurity expert has warned. Artificial intelligence researchers have consistently warned of the security risks posed by internet-connected robots, with hundreds recently calling on governments to ban weaponized robots. The latest warning comes from a cybersecurity expert who made the prophecy to several U.K. newspapers. “Hackers can hack into a robot or a robotic device and have full control of the connections, arms, legs and other attached tools like in some cases knives or welding devices,” Nicholas Patterson, a cybersecurity lecturer at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia, told the Star. “Often these robots can be upwards of 200 pounds and very strong. Once a robot is hacked, the hacker has full control and can issue instructions to the robot. The last thing you want is for a hacker to have control over one of these robots. Once hacked they could absolutely be used to perform physical actions for an advantageous scenario or to cause damage.”
Ummmmmm duh? The best part of this story is they needed to include the sex part. Like people refused to believe that robots could be used to kill people via hackers until the sex part was involved. Normal robots being hacked and used for mass murdering? No wayyyyyyyyyyyy. Get the fuck outta here. That won’t happen. Sex robots being hacked and used for mass murdering? Well now you have our attention! It makes sense I suppose.
I’d actually be fine with being killed by a robot. Kind of a dope death. There are much much much more boring ways to die. Although I’d wanna be killed by a robot during the very early stages of robots going main stream. You don’t wanna be like the 20th person killed by a robot. It loses all its luster. I need to be in the top 5 of robot deaths. But to say you were killed by a robot who was hacked? DOPE. Being killed by a sex robot, not so much. Nobody wants their mom to get the phone call that their son was killed by a sex robot. That adds a whole layer of shame to the funeral when people come up to her and pay their respects.
