Christopher Plummer Re-Shooting All Of Kevin Spacey's Scenes For 'All The Money In The World' In 9 Days And Receiving A Golden Globe Nomination For It Is One Of The Craziest Stories Of The Year

Hollywood Reporter- Not only did Christopher Plummer replace Kevin Spacey in Ridley Scott’s finished film All the Money in the World, he also nabbed a surprise Golden Globe nomination less than two weeks after portraying J. Paul Getty for the Sony film, in theaters Dec. 25.

From his home in Connecticut, Plummer spent a bit of his birthday with The Hollywood Reporter to talk shooting all his scenes in just nine days, opting not to watch any of Spacey’s footage and continually challenging himself at 88 years old: “I’m not pushing up the daisies just yet.”

After we found out Kevin Spacey was a massive pervert a few months ago, Ridley Scott called in Christopher Plummer to re-shoot all of his scenes in “All the Money in the World”. It was a finished movie at that point, fully into promotion, with trailers out and everything.

Sony was putting all of their eggs into this flick’s basket though, and it was getting major Oscar buzz, so the studio decided to not leave a big asterisk on it when they felt they could do something about that. Plummer stepped in knowing very little about the man he was playing, J. Paul Getty, didn’t watch ANY of Spacey’s scenes for reference, and wrapped the whole ten million dollar shoot in just nine days. Two weeks later, he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actor. This marks Plummer’s fourth Golden Globe nomination, and has the potential to be his second win.

This is basically like a fighter accepting a title fight on short notice and knocking out the champion in the first round – something UFC Fighter Michael Bisping did in June of last year. It’s insane. I can’t even imagine being so good at whatever your craft is that you can basically roll off your couch and get nominated for one of the most prestigious awards in that field. Makes me stoked to check this movie out, honestly, and I’m kinda rooting for him without knowing anything about it.
