Welcome Back, Josh Gordon
Josh Gordon feels like a fever dream it happened so long ago. That couldn’t have been real, right? Some guy who made the Browns legitimately exciting to watch for a 14-game stretch back in 2013. A guy who went on one of the most ridiculous four game runs anyone has ever been on. A guy Aqib Talib is still chasing, trying to figure out how he took a simple slant route 80 yards to the house. That’s how good Josh Gordon was: he had the 4-8 Browns up on the 9-3 Patriots in New England with 32 seconds left in the game.
I had given up on a Josh Gordon comeback. He just kept fucking up and Goodell didn’t seem to have any interest in letting him back into the League. Then you read what Gordon admits to doing all his life up to this point and it’s hard to imagine how he even got to make this comeback. It’s not quite a feel good story, I don’t think Disney is going to buy the rights and make “Blind Side 2″ out of this, especially since he isn’t a left tackle, but who doesn’t want Josh Gordon to come back and ball out? Buddy was all sorts of banged up hanging 237 yards on the Pittsburgh Steelers, what is he going to do sober? And oh yeah, he’s only 26. Like, right now he’s 26 years of age. I know, that shocked me, too. I would’ve guessed 29 turning 30 any day now. Nope, 26. Wasted three years of football and yet still has about four years of prime ahead of him if he wants it.
Gordon played his last game on December 21, 2014. Three years is a long time away from the game, he very well may just stink now. Here’s to holding out hope that he doesn’t.
