Jewish Groups Take Issue with 'Artists' Playing Naked Tag in a Nazi Gas Chamber

.

SourceGroups representing Holocaust survivors have asked Poland’s president to explain why artists were allowed to film a naked game of tag inside a gas chamber in the former Nazi death camp of Stutthof.

On Wednesday, the Organization of Holocaust Survivors in Israel, the Simon Wiesenthal Center and several other groups sent the request for clarification to President Andrzej Duda in connection with a video that the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow displayed in 2015 without divulging any details on where it was filmed. …

Following protests by Jewish groups and community leaders, the Krakow museum pulled the exhibition but then reinstated it, defending it as falling under freedom of artistic expression.

The video was part of an exhibition titled “Poland – Israel – Germany. The experience of Auschwitz,” which opened in 2015 in Krakow, about the former Nazi death camp’s impact on public discourse. It was endorsed and sponsored by the Israeli Embassy in Poland.

I’ll tell you exactly who’s in the wrong here on this one. It’s me. And these Jewish groups. And, I’ll imagine, you. Because obviously we are uncultured Philistines who don’t have an appreciation for art.

I plead guilty. I mean, I enjoy a good game of naked tag as much as anybody. But I also confess that to me, art is Bob Ross or Norman Rockwell’s The Three Umpires, which I have framed in my den. Because I’m pig-ignorant and common and can’t grasp the subtle message of playing said game in a Nazi gas chamber. As a matter of fact, if I was part of this project and someone laid out the concept for me, I probably would’ve showed my stupidity by saying something like “Say, guys? Maybe we shouldn’t run around with our dicks flapping around playing games in a room where literally thousands of innocents died horribly, naked and afraid with Zyklon-B  burning their lungs out. Just a thought, but maybe that’s in bad taste and we could go do this in a studio. Or really anywhere that isn’t so genocidey. Who’s with me?”

And then wouldn’t I have looked like an idiot. Then the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow would’ve been denied this artistic masterpiece with its powerful message of … naked tag. Or whatever. Because art.

So suck it up, Organization of Holocaust Survivors. Stop being such snowflakes, all you Sallys at the Simon Wiesenthal Center. And for God sakes, stop letting your sensitivity about your ancestors being mass murdered interfere with great art.
