Wake Up With David Wells Pitching A Perfect Game (1998)

Per Stoolie request, we’ve got Boomer Wells throwing a perfect game in May of 1998. Wells, as he later admitted, was “half drunk” during the perfecto, which was par for the course for him. As we all know, this Yankee team would go on to win their first of three consecutive World Series titles that year, and Wells finished the season with the best winning percentage in the league at 18-4, placing third for the Cy Young award. That’s the highest he’d ever finish in his career, something he’d accomplish again in 2000 for the Toronto Blue Jays when he became a 20-game winner for the first and only time.
