PSA: If You Invite Your Friend Over To Try Out Your Virtual Reality Headset, He May Run Through Your TV And Break It

YES!!! As someone that loved the chaos that flying Wii controllers caused to flat screen TVs more than a decade ago, I am here for all of this. Back then our phones weren’t smart as fuck and their cameras weren’t cutting edge. You would occasionally find a video of somebody destroying a $5,000 plasma TV as they tried to throw some extra English on a bowling ball in Wii Sports, but those were pretty rare and grainy.

But now everyone has a phone with at least a zillion megapixels and anybody with a brain will record their friends trying virtual reality for the first time. Just a complete mindfuck. I tried out a headset back when we were taping Snackin’ Off at YouTube Studios. At one point I had to close my eyes because my brain was so confused. If we are being honest, part of me never left that headset and will forever live in the Matrix. And while I am sad that I will never truly be a full human again, I know that many people will suffer the same fate while also losing themselves in a virtual mode before going Beast Mode through their friends’ TVs and creating viral gold. I chalk that up as a W in my book.

That being said, please turn your phone sideways when recording for now on, guys. That’s Day 1 Internet stuff right there. We shouldn’t be able to send people to all sorts of virtual worlds yet continue to record viral videos in portrait mode. However I’m sure there are some very weird people who got off on this super close up Nose Cam reaction.
