The Year Is 2017 And Paul Kariya Scored A Goal Assisted By Teemu Selanne
Everybody who grew up watching hockey in the late-90s/early-2000’s probably have Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne somewhere in their top 10 favorite players of all time. Those two guys, Sakic, Forsberg, Fedorov, Modano, Hull. All guys who are pretty universally loved. Anyway, Selanne and Kariya are both getting inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame tonight and this past weekend they played in the HHoF Legends game. And for the first time since 2003-04 when the two were reunited on the Colorado Avalanche, Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya teamed up for a goal against Team Messier last night.
Nice little between-the-legs drop pass, drags the defenders low, gives Kariya plenty of space to skate into the slot and then 9 buries it. Just like old times. A damn shame the boys couldn’t win the Cup together but great work by everybody involved to make sure they go in the Hall together. What a couple of legends. Bet they could both go out there and still put up at least 50 points this year.
P.S. – Speaking of Kariya, I feel like people forget what an absolute savage he was at Maine. 100 points in his freshman year and was the first freshman to ever win the Hobey Baker. 25 goals and 75 assists in just 39 games. What a sicko. And speaking of college hockey, it was an absolute monster weekend in the NCAA in terms of dangles so here’s a quick little mini Cawlidge Hockey edition of Dangle Days with help from our good pal Pavel Barber on Instagram.

Quick little tip for Alex Roos when you’re talking to the ladies on campus this week. You and I both know this wasn’t the original plan when you first when for the toe drag, but just tell everybody you guys practice this all the time. At the bar back home next week the night before Thanksgiving? Make sure you have this highlight pulled up on your phone, locked and loaded, ready to go at all times. That right there is pure filth as long as you let people know you meant to do it.
Next up we have Denver’s Henrik Borgstrom, who has been featured on Dangle Days plenty so far in his career, going with a heavy drag finished off with a roof job for the exclamation point.
The fact that Denver still has Troy Terry and Henrik Borgstrom the year after winning a Natty title just doesn’t seem that fair to me.
And then finally, we have RIT’s Myles Powell making the Robert Morris defense look like your local JV team.
