According To George Clooney, George Clooney Is Too Rich To Act Anymore

Premiere Of Paramount Pictures'

Source - George Clooney is working behind the camera — not in front of it — because he can.

“Look, I acted for a long time and, you know, I’m 56,” the Oscar winner told the UK’s Sunday Times. “I’m not the guy that gets the girl anymore … I shouldn’t be the guy that gets the girl. But, look, if somebody’s got Paul Newman in ‘The Verdict,’ I’d jump. But there aren’t that many [roles] like that. Acting used to be how I paid the rent, but I sold a tequila company for a billion f—king dollars. I don’t need money.”

“I have money, so I can fight to make movies I want to make. If you look at what I’ve been in over the past 15 years, for the most part they weren’t going to get made if I didn’t do them,” he said. “Nobody was going to make ‘Good Night, and Good Luck,’ ‘Michael Clayton’ or ‘Up in the Air,’ and I fought to get those out there. [Brad] Pitt’s doing that a lot too. Brad does it, and that’s a good use of celebrity, or whatever the f—k that is. I’ll make money other ways if I have to. I used to do coffee commercials.”

Amen, brother. I’ve never been a big Clooney guy, mostly because he’s too handsome for me to like him, but now I am. It’s hard not respect his level of honesty. “Acting, nah, I sold a tequila company for a billion-fucking-dollars.” “Women? LOLz slept with em all.” “If you need me I’ll be on my ranch in the northern Italy. Oh, and if I run out of money I’ll do another one of those shitty coffee commercials.” There’s something so refreshingly cocky about his statement.  No political correctness or word watching, just brutal honesty. I don’t know if he was drinking some of his billion-dollar tequila or what but I hope this is the George we get from here on out. Makes him more relatable. Because there’s not one person on earth that wouldn’t give up what they’re doing for the right amount of money. Doesn’t matter if they love their job or hate it, everyone’s got a price. I’d do just about anything for the right price (cue the comment section) and if you say you wouldn’t you’re a liar.

I didn’t even know he was still acting. It makes you wonder what he’s going to do with his free time. Just hang around? Ride that sweet wooden boat through Venice, show face on the red carpet every once in a while? So, I guess the same thing he’s been doing but without the stress of being expected to do it? I don’t know- just trying to wrap my head around George Clooney’s future on this rainy Tuesday.

Tyler Perry had a great quote on money. He said, “Money doesn’t change you it just exposes who you really are.” So if George is finally rich enough to start acting like himself I’m all for it. Everyone deserves happiness. Sad to think that he’s been wasting the past twenty-five years working for pennies on the dollar but at least it’s over. Hopefully there’s enough time left for him to find his true calling.
