The Internet Is Going Nuts Over Ruby- The First New Chocolate Flavor In Eighty Years

Source –  There hasn’t been an innovation in the world of chocolate since the white variant was introduced in 1930. But still, we’d never turn away a new kind of creamy, chocolate-y thing to munch on while we binge-watch Netflix.

A brand new chocolate flavor called Ruby, developed from the Ruby Cocoa bean, colored a pleasingly millennial pink hue and that tastes like sweet, sweet berries despite having no added color or flavoring.

“Ruby chocolate is the fourth type of chocolate [after milk, white and dark] and is an intense sensorial delight,” a spokesperson for Barry Callebaut said after launching the chocolate to a panel of experts in China. 

And those experts couldn’t get enough of it. After tasting this chic new foodstuff, expert Angus Kennedy said, “Ruby chocolate is very different and clever stuff. It’s refreshing and has a light, creamy texture.”

Our bodies are ready for this new kind of chocolate. And we’re ready for something better than white chocolate. In this time of great political unrest, we all deserve more than white chocolate.

You’re either a chocolate guy or you’re not. I am not. It’s overrated, overused and overpriced. To me, chocolate is for pregnant women and diabetics. It’s nothing more than band-aid for a bad mood. A caloric anti-depressant that traps its users in an emotional binge. Despite the obvious downsides, people go fucking bananas for chocolate. The second Barry Callebaut came out with their Ruby chocolate the internet went nuts. Every media outlet is talking about it: Yahoo, Reddit, Bloomberg, CNBC, Fox, The New York Times. The list goes on and on. As such, I’d be lying if I said all the buzz doesn’t have me intrigued.

Which brings me to my next point, should I give chocolate another chance? Maybe it’s time to grow up. It’s been twenty years since I puked on my chest after a chocolate cake binge. Maybe, I need to face my fears. Grow up. Besides, Ruby seems delicious, the description alone puts me in a daydream.
