Will 'Creed 2' Be Able To Solve US-Russian Relations? I'd Say Most Definitely
Insta – Getting ready for something big! ???? @officialslystallone #Creed2 #IvanDrago
A little late on this Instagram post from Dolph Lundgren but clearly Ivan Drago is back for “Creed 2″. Which is perfect because if you’ve been keeping up with current events over the past 18 months, you’ll know that relations between the United States and Russia aren’t exactly at their best. This isn’t a political blog, I promise you that. I don’t care if you believe Trump’s administration is in cahoots with Russia or not. I’m saying regardless of where you stand on that issue, clearly Russia still poses as a serious threat. Which is why this return of Ivan Drago couldn’t come at a better time.
It’s common knowledge at this point that Rocky IV ended the Cold War. Pretty sure you can check out any 10th grade US History textbook and there will be an entire chapter dedicated to it. It goes “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall” and then “If I can change, and you can change, everybody can change”. Two of the greatest quotes from the Cold War era that led to the demise of the Soviet Union. Without Rocky IV, well who knows what kind of world we’d still be living in today. But it’s clearer now more than ever that we need another Rocky IV moment before World War III breaks out and we all die in a nuclear wasteland.
Now obviously Adonis has to fight Drago’s kid for revenge since Drago killed Apollo. That’s the clear path for the storyline to go here but if we’re being perfectly honest, I’m just not into it. Maybe that can be Creed 2 as long as they promise to make Creed 3 about Drago coming over to the United States to help train Adonis after he crushes his kid in Creed 2. Get that Rocky III “working with the former enemy” type of feel going again. The fight they are training for is against Kim Jong Un–who, according to North Korean state media, has a professional boxing record of 175-0. So here we have a Russian helping the Americans beat the shit out of North Korea. Donnie knocks out Kim Jong Un in the last round and all of a sudden, Russians and Americans realize that they can work together to defeat a larger evil in the world. Vladimir Putin is at the world premiere and a single tear falls down his cheek. He realizes that he’s been a pretty big fucking asshole for a while, walks across the aisle to Donald Trump who is also at the world premiere, and the two share a warm, lovers embrace. And scene!
P.S. – Creed being on Hulu instead of Netflix has been a real kick to the dick this whole week after the Mayweather/McGregor fight. How hasn’t Netflix put Hulu out of business yet.
