Baron Corbin Had A Failed Money In The Bank Cash In Last Night...Ha! What An Idiot!

Just as SmackDown was wrapping up last night and I thought we were onto SummerSlam, “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin made his way down the aisle with his briefcase in hand, interrupting the main event between Jinder Mahal and John Cena. He quickly disposed of Cena, threw him out of the ring, and handed the Money in the Bank contract to the referee. With the WWE Champion on the ground after eating an avalanche Attitude Adjustment, Corbin was cashing in. He was the seventeenth person in history to do so, and out of those seventeen, only two didn’t come out of their championship match with gold around their waist. It took Baron Corbin six seconds to become the third.

I hate Jinder Mahal and think he’s a disgrace to the WWE Championship. I haven’t tried to hide my feelings about that at all. I’m also a pretty big Baron Corbin fan. I think he’s constantly improving. So I’m not a HUGE fan of what they did here. I love the long reigns as Mr Money in the Bank. Edge, Dolph Ziggler, and Seth Rollins come to mind as people who held the briefcase for so long that fans were BEGGING for it. The past few years, every cash in has happened relatively soon after it was won, like the MITB was burning a hole in their pocket.

Word two weeks ago was that Vince McMahon had soured on Corbin, and I didn’t believe it at the time, but I think I have to believe it now.

One positive coming out of this is the unexpectedness, however. Nobody saw the cash in coming, and nobody expected him to lose it in the manner he did. Wrestling (particularly the WWE) needs more unpredictability. This clip will be used in video packages for years to come as what NOT to do, and it’ll make the successful cash in stat a little more manageable.
