Yale Dean Known For Cultural Sensitivity Gets Exposed By The School Newspaper For Leaving Dozens Of Yelp Reviews About "White Trash" And "Low Class Obese" People
NY Post – A dean at Yale University who championed cultural sensitivity has apologized for her “insensitive” Yelp reviews of restaurants, gyms and movie theaters, including hot takes on what “white trash” customers would find tasty and employees she blasted as “barely educated morons.”
June Chu, dean of Yale’s Pierson College, apologized for the offending reviews, which had been circulating among students for several months, after the Yale Daily News published screenshots on Saturday.
“To put it quite simply: If you are white trash, this is the perfect night out for you!” Chu wrote in one review of a Japanese restaurant. “This establishment is definitely not authentic by any stretch of any imagination and perfect for those low class folks who believe this is a real night out. Over salted and greasy food. Side note: employees are Chinese, not Japanese.”
Chu, whose Yelp account has since been deleted, sent an email to students at Yale’s largest residential college to apologize for her “insensitive” reviews and admitted they were out of line.
“I have learned a lot this semester about the power of words and about the accountability that we owe one another,” Chu wrote in the email. “My remarks were wrong. There are no two ways about it. Not only were they insensitive in matters related to class and race; they demean the values to which I hold myself and which I offer as a member of this community.”
Washington Post – As the dean of Yale University’s Pierson College, June Chu is responsible for advising about 500 students and fostering “a familiar, comfortable living environment” in keeping with the university’s residential college system.
Chu’s biography states she has a PhD in social psychology and touts a long career in which she has “sought to help students not only succeed academically but to support their holistic academic experience and multifaceted identities.”
Nothing gets my dick hard like a good hypocrite being exposed story. Yale dean whose resume is stacked with acceptance and tolerance going OFF on fat white trash college dropout losers on Yelp? Ahhhh. That hits the spot.
And to be clear “white trash” isn’t really all that offensive, it’s a pretty solid adjective for white trash things. Pretty sure white trash people don’t even care. They take pride in white trash stuff. But when you’re a college administrator who has made her career on “cultural sensitivity” and “comfortable living environments for multifaceted identities” it’s a really bad look for you to be spending your nights condescendingly shitting all over people for their social status, their intelligence, their looks, and how much money they make IMO.
Other reviews by Chu, who identified herself as a Chinese-American on the website, focused on her prowess to evaluate a Japanese rice cake as an authentic critic.
“Remember: I am Asian,” Chu wrote. “I know mochi. These are not good and overpriced. They are ice cream mochi which are small in size and easily become freezer burned if not stored well … I guess if you were a white person who has clue what mochi is, this would be fine for you.”
In another review of a movie theater, Chu called the employees there “barely educated morons trying to manage snack orders for the obese” while trying to do simple math.
You know what’s WAY more concerning than the content here? The fact this chick was leaving so many fucking Yelp reviews in the first place. That’s what we should be talking about. The sheer volume of reviews. For restaurants, take out joints, freaking MOVIE THEATERS. Who leaves a Yelp review for a movie theater? Let alone multiple? Complaining about the length of the popcorn lines? Jesus. That’s how you know you’re a total asshole as a person. When you think your opinions matter so much that you sit at your computer every time you get home from somewhere furiously pounding on your keyboard about how slow the service was or how your rice was slightly undercooked or how your donut was overpriced by 35 cents.
Seriously I would rather you look my kid in the face and call them a fat piece of trailer trash while you cash their $50K tuition check than be an anonymous Yelp reviewer leaving 1 star and 8 paragraphs about a fucking burrito joint.
