I don’t understand why soccer players don’t use the flip-throw more often. I understand it’s probably harder to be accurate with it and most guys in the pros have the arm strength to bomb it across the field with the standard overhead. But the flip-throw adds an extra element of surprise to the party. You think the Oklahoma City Energy pull this off without the flip-throw? Fuhgettaboudit. You can see the confusion in the defense’s eyes. They are so taken aback by the throw in that they just leave our boy Miguel Gonzalez wide open right in his wheelhouse (bicycle pun intended). You have a dude named Miguel Gonzalez just camping out in front of the net, maybe it would be in your best interest to put a body on him. Or else, ya know, he’s going to SportsCenter Top 10 your ass straight to hell like he did right there.
Either way, good on the USL to sneak this highlight in right before the NHL and NBA playoffs start. They saw their window of opportunity was small and they still struck with precision. Great moments are born from great opportunity.
