Deadspin - Late last week, Coastal Carolina suspended their entire cheerleading team, wiping them from the school’s athletics website and preventing them from going to nationals. The school confirmed that the team was suspended pending a conduct investigation, but would not elaborate or offer any details.

Coastal Carolina fulfilled a Deadspin public-records request this afternoon and released the results of their investigation.

It all started when five letters were sent into CCU’s president on March 8 alleging that cheerleaders had been working as escorts, stripping at strip clubs, recruiting younger cheerleaders to join them, shunning and harassing young cheerleaders who didn’t join them, and facilitating the “rampant use of alcohol.” CCU campus police investigator Michelyn Pylilo looked into the allegations and eventually ruled that “some of the allegations are true.”

A trove of text messages between cheerleaders, as well as several interviews, led Pylilo to conclude that a few cheerleaders had worked as escorts through SeekingArrangement, a legal website that seeks to connect women with “sugar daddies” for dates. The cheerleaders earned between $100 and $1,500 per date. Everyone involved credibly claims that they never had sex for money with any of their dates, and none of the evidence Pylilo gathered suggests that they did.

Pylilo interviewed six current team members, five of whom detailed their encounters with men on SeekingArrangement. All of them said that they met up with men and received gifts and money for their time, but didn’t have sex with them. Sometimes they would cross state lines and go on dates up in North Carolina.

Washington Post…in a summation of the investigation that was obtained by Deadspin and the Myrtle Beach Sun News, Coastal Carolina Police Investigator Michelyn Pylilo found that “some of the allegations in the letter were true.” Through interviews with current and former cheerleaders and text messages, she determined that four cheerleaders “were and are currently” involved in an online dating service called SeekingArrangement. The women received between $100 and $1,500 per date and also received clothes, gifts and designer handbags from the men who contacted them, though none of the women said they performed sexual favors.

One of the women also worked as a shot girl at a local strip club, the investigation found.

Pylilo also uncovered a group text message from one of the cheerleaders advising her teammates to delete the SeekingArrangement app from their phones and to avoid the strip club until after the cheerleading season was over. The school’s investigation is ongoing, Pylilo said.

First of all shout out to Deadspin for putting in a public-records request to get more information on this Coastal Carolina situation, I’ll admit, even though it’s a new age of Barstool journalism, I wouldn’t have put in the leg work on that one. Second of all shout out to Deadspin for also being the most gullible motherfuckers on the planet?  I mean are we for real saying these girls were paid $1500 and never had sex??  Haha. Made me laugh even typing that. Just a little heads up for the kids reading this who aren’t adults yet with fully functioning brains. If you sign up for a website that men can find you on and pay you close to 2 thousand bucks to hang out with them – there’s sex going down. Unicorns and Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny and guys paying $1500 plus designer handbags and clothes for a chance to “hang out” with hot college girls. Wake up (allegedly).

Listen my stance is pretty clear on this, if someone wants to pay money for sex and a consenting adult agrees to it I see no reason why that shouldn’t be perfectly legal. Couldn’t care less if these girls were (allegedly) sleeping with sugar daddies for tuition and book money, in fact I fully support it, it’s basically a job at school that pays a hell of a lot better than work-study.  Do your thing girl.   Just don’t piss on my head and tell me it’s raining and don’t tell me sugar daddies were paying thousands of bucks for dinner dates and not getting any sex out of it.

And if they were, they deserve to be internet shamed more than these 20 year old cheerleaders.
