The Pardon My Take Uhhhh Hey JJ Charity Drive Explainer

 DONATE HERE

So on today’s Pardon My Take we announced the PMT Uhhh Hey JJ charity drive. You can listen to his call into the show today as well as Adam Morrison’s interview HERE. Since the launch I’ve seen some stray comments on twitter either hating on this or asking questions that in my mind deserve answers. So here’s a quick FAQ for everyone curious.

Q – This is bullshit, why should we have to pay for a guest?

A- You don’t have to pay for a guest. If you can’t donate we understand, people have different financial situations and no one ever expected every listener to donate. As for the “pay” thing, it’s a donation to a worthy charity. No one is making money off this, we started a GoFundMe, our CFO is running the whole thing, and we’ll be cutting a check directly to the JJ Watt Foundation. Everyone will get to listen to the interview whether they donated or not, the people that donated will just know they helped some kids in need.

Q – This money goes to after school programs for disadvantaged kids? What about Cancer or other causes?

A – Good question and while obviously Cancer is a more serious issue think of it this way. I’ve never given to this type of charity, I’ve given to a bunch of different Cancer foundations. It’s cool for once to give to a charity that probably doesn’t get a ton of publicity, and again, you don’t have to give anything if you don’t want to.

Q – Doesn’t this just mean every guest is going to want a charity donation to appear on the show?

A – No. We’ve done this show for over a year now without ever doing something like this. This is our white whale so to speak. We’ve had a running joke with JJ Watt for a long time and this is a very unique case.  Doing something like this where everyone can win is a great thing and very on brand for our relationship with JJ from the start. Trust me when I say we will not be asking for charity donations for every guest. I really can’t believe this was a real question by some people but I got it tweeted to me multiple times so here we are. To reiterate one more time, this does not mean we will be making charity donations for every single guest.

Q – This interview is going to suck, JJ sucks, we hate him and he’s going to be fake.

A – Ok that wasn’t a question but it’s something I’ve seen said a few different times. I can’t promise this interview is going to be great, no one can. What I will promise though is PFT, Hank and I put in our absolute best effort/performance. We also are planning on delivering a ton of content surrounding the interview as well as the interview itself. I have no clue if JJ will hate us or open up to us, but isn’t finding out cool in itself? This is a guy we’ve made fun of for a while now, talking to him about that will be fascinating no matter how he responds. Also through the planning of this entire thing I get the sense JJ is down for it, he knows what he’s getting into and this will hopefully be an interview unlike any of his others. Once we hit the 50k we’ll be planning the trip and get an hour to sit down with him face to face, it’s going to be interesting no matter how it plays out.

Q – Fuck you Big Cat, stop asking me to donate money to kids.

A – Again, you don’t have to donate if you don’t want to donate. But thank you to everyone who has donated thus far. It’s insane how awesome the Award Winning Listeners are. There is no other podcast on earth that can raise over 30k in basically 5 hours. The loyalty you guys show is unmatched and overwhelming. So thank you to everyone who has donated, and if you’d like to help reach our goal you can do so here.

 DONATE HERE

Oh and one final note. I would never ever ask people to donate to a charity if I wasn’t donating myself. Hank, PFT and I all made donations. We’re excited for this entire thing and you should be as well.
