Katy Perry Says She Did More Than Kiss A Girl Then Tried To "Pray Away The Gay" At Jesus Camps

USA Today- Katy Perry’s fans know that she “kissed and girl and (she) liked it,” but here’s what they might not recall: Perry grew up in a strict religious household, and that she did more than “kiss.” Perry took a trip down memory lane Saturday night when she accepted the Human Rights Campaign National Equality Award. “Thank you so much for this incredible, humbling award,” she said at advocacy group’s Los Angeles gala, in an emotional speech that was over 10 minutes long. “Truth be told, A) I did more than that, but B) How was I going to reconcile that with a gospel-singing girl raised in youth groups that were pro-conversion camps? What I did know is that I was curious, and even then I knew sexuality wasn’t as black and white as this (ruffled Rasario) dress. And, honestly, I haven’t always gotten it right, but in 2008, when that song came out, I knew that I started a conversation that a lot of the world seemed curious enough to sing along, too.”

LOL at religious institutions on this one (and always, to be honest). This is a tale as old as time. Person grows up in an oppressive environment, they’re told to suppress any and all sexual feelings they have, they do it for an extended period of time and then, when given even an inch of freedom, they explode into having sex with anyone and everyone. Not sure when religion is going to learn that lesson but I’m gonna go ahead and say never. OF COURSE Katy Perry was kissing girls and (probably) licking clits after being a religious freak as a kid. That’s what happens. I’ve used this example before but it’s like the kid in high school who doesn’t drink and then becomes a full blown alcoholic in college. Same deal when it comes to hardcore religious people and sex. Religion really dropped the ball on this one cause it wasn’t some normal girl who rebelled. It was Katy Perry. That should be enough for them to change their system. You can’t scare Katy Perry away from your team. Let her do all the awesome lesbian stuff on your watch. In terms of praying away the gay at Jesus camps, that’s preposterous. Fuck whoever you want.
