Wake Up With Ryan Howard Hitting Home Runs No. 49, 50, 51 and 52 (2006)

I was originally just gonna blog Ryan Howard’s 49th home run from 2006, which passed Mike Schmidt for the most home runs in a single season by a Phillies player, but then I saw that he hit No. 50, 51 and 52 in the same game a few days later. That 2006 season by Howard was unbelievable. He followed up his Rookie of the Year season in 2005 with 58 bombs, 149 RBI, and 383 total bases, all of which led the league en route to the National League MVP award. From 2006 through 2009, Howard averaged 50 homers, 143 RBI and 344 total bases per season over that four-year span, and never finished lower than fifth for the MVP award. He was an absolute monster.
