Trump Blames Delta, Protesters, And Senator Schumer's Tears For Airport Problems

God dammit Senator Schumer get your tears out of here. Wreaking all sorts of havoc, causing delays and problems across the country. Don’t you know anything about searching for terrorists? Study the world!

And watch out for all the bad quote unquote “dudes.”

giphy

Think dudes in quotes means terrorists?

Anyway, big political news this weekend was Trump’s immigration ban and the fallout and reaction to it. As is the 2017 default response, thousands protested. In short, the executive order bans citizens from 7 countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, Yemen, Syria and Somalia) from entering the US for 90 days and suspends the entire US refugee program for 120 days.

Opposition to the ban say it goes against American values, it discriminates against Muslims, and that the ban conveniently only affects countries in which Trump has no business ties.

Supporters of the ban say it’s a necessary step in keeping us safe from outsiders who want to do harm, in setting a standard of extreme vetting, and tout that Obama did something similar in 2011 (he suspended admittance of Iraqi refugees for six months).

Now, Trump and his supporters of course want to defend every move Trump makes. He blames Delta (blaming airlines is basically an undefeated tactic), protesters (again, blaming protesters has a strong track record), and Senator Schumer’s tears (funny), but in reality the hastily-signed order did cause logistical and administrative confusion. Stephen Heifetz, who served under the last three presidents, describes in the New York Times:

“The details of it were not thought through,” said Stephen Heifetz, who served in the Justice and Homeland Security Departments, as well as the C.I.A., under the previous three presidents. “It is not surprising there was mass confusion, and I expect the confusion and chaos will continue for some time.”

For those that want to bitch I’m using the New York Times as a source, here Fox News details some of the uncertainty and problems that followed the signing:

The Trump administration was forced to make a number of clarifications on the status of permanent legal residents or “green card” holders, while a federal judge issued a stay on deportations late Saturday.

The good news? The protests produced many chants, which I broke down here; they also produced several feel-good moments with crowds cheering international arrivals, like these guys from Turkey!

(by “from Turkey” I mean some Stoolie’s buddies who got shitfaced on their Istanbul to DC flight last night…)
