"Fuck You, Fuck You": Semi-Regular Reminder That Hockey Refs Are Nobody To Mess With
Other than being a blogger, I can’t think of any other profession that you get shit on as much merely for existing as hockey refs do. From mites all the way through the NHL, hockey refs are constantly getting bitched at. By the players, by the coaches, by the parents in the stands, by the crowd. They could call a perfect game and still get flooded with “Ref you suck” chants for 3 straight periods. Eventually these guys reach a tipping point and just have to remind some fools out there that if you mess with the bull, you’re gonna get your fucking ass kicked. And that’s what our guy Frederic L’Ecuyer had to do last night while calling the Nashville vs Columbus game. Just had to keep some bitches in line and remind them whose calling the shots out there.
I was praying that this was directed at James Neal again. Pretty sure somebody said that it was to Hartnell which is also more than believable. Makes total sense. Guy’s a jackass. A lovable jackass but a jackass nonetheless. But I don’t think anything will ever be able to top Tim Peel putting that little bitch James Neal in the corner a few seasons ago.
“Fuck you, you’re getting a fucking penalty”. That’s poetry right there from Tim Peel. James Neal. One of the NHL’s most prolific divers. He was the first player in the league to actually get fined for it. And he’s like a little kid out there getting yelled at by his dad. Tim Peel has called a ton of shit games in his day. But this moment here gave him a immunity for me.

But yeah. NHL refs aren’t here to take shit from anybody. There here to call a good clean game and they’re not afraid to put you in your place if you try to fuck with that. Gotta respect the biz.
