The Bohemian Rhapsody Scene From Wayne's World Is One Of The Greatest Scenes In Movie History
RS - Wayne’s World, the 1992 Saturday Night Live spinoff film starring Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, will return to select cinemas on February 7th and 8th for 25th anniversary screenings. The wacky comedy will feature a pre-recorded, post-film roundtable discussion with director Penelope Spheeris, Rolling Stone movie critic Peter Travers and select cast members.
The Wayne’s World 25 website offers a searchable theater guide for the screenings. Also marking the anniversary, Paramount Home Media Distribution will release a Wayne’s World double feature via DVD and digital HD on February 14th, Pitchfork reports. The film’s iTunes edition will include new digital extras like a director’s commentary and making-of feature.
When it comes to all-time underrated movies, I’d like to throw the Wayne’s World hat into the mix. Actually if we can take a step back, I want to first offer my appreciation for the Wayne’s World sketch from SNL. Pound for pound it’s one of the greatest recurring sketches in the history of the show.
Mike Meyers and Dana Carvey aren’t on the Spade/Farley level of 1-2 punches, but they are pretty fucking good. Parlaying Wayne’s World into not 1 but 2 hilarious movies is no easy task, but they did it. Complete with one of the greatest scenes in cinematic history:
It really doesn’t get much better than that, folks. Right up there with Jim Carey climbing out of the rhino
So here’s to Wayne’s World. Great movie, great comedians, great everything. If one of you kids haven’t seen it, please do yourself a favor and hop to it.
