Dabo Swinney Using His Postgame Presser To Shit On Colin Cowherd Was Funny But Such A Bad Look

Kind of a bad look for Dabo IMO. I mean I love the guy and I couldn’t be happier for him after the win last night, but using your postgame press conference to go after Colin freaking Cowherd? Like that’s what your priority is sitting down in front of the press?

It’s exactly what I was talking about with the Skip Bayless blog earlier. That it’s okay to fall into the trap every now and then, but at least be self-aware of who you are dealing with. Skip Bayless is a professional troll who gets paid to take extreme stances on everything. Colin Cowherd is the same – to a slightly lesser extent, but the same. When he’s asked about Clemson on his radio show he’s either going to say they are the best team in the history of college football, or more likely, they’re losers and frauds who don’t deserve to even be in Division 1. That’s how entertainment works. Nobody wants a reasonable rational middling take. It’s one pole or the other or you don’t talk about it. That’s literally Cowherd’s philosophy:

“I’m just doing sports,” Cowherd said. “If I’m wrong on Cam”?—?he turned his palms upward and shrugged his shoulders?—?“who cares? … I’m in the interesting business.” [TBL]

So it’s funny when bloggers compile all the contradictory tweets and statements and make you look like an idiot and everyone gets a good laugh. But when you’re making $5 million+ a year to coach a team that just won the National Championship and you go on a 2 minute rant about a shock jock saying stuff he doesn’t even truly believe in for ratings, it’s not my favorite look. Just give me fun Dabo dabbing in the locker room to Jumpman and emotional Dabo talking about how Happiness won them the game, that’s all I’m saying.

PS,

What Cowherd said by the way-

“Clemson’s a fraud. Clemson is going to get their ears boxed by whoever they play. They should have three losses, maybe four. I don’t buy into Clemson. They’re the New York Giants of college football. I don’t care what their record is. I don’t buy into them. And I had Clemson in the final four, so I should be rooting for them. I got no dog in the fight here. I think USC is the second-best team in the country and Vegas agrees.”
