It’s official, Jared Kushner will be named Senior Advisor to the President. That’s a big role. Senior Staff is the handful of people who congregate in the Oval and talk through anything and everything with POTUS. If you’re a West Wing fan, it’s this crew.
RIP Leo. A few months ago, shortly after the election, I did a quick breakdown of Kushner. He’s Ivanka’s husband, and a 35-year-old billionaire and, since the election’s been over, it’s come to light that he played a SIGNIFICANT role in the campaign. He was instrumental in the firing of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski over the summer. He’s shy, more of a behind-the-scenes dude. His handshake game reinforces that fact.
Since November 8th it’s been widely believed Kushner would be active in Trump’s West Wing, to some degree. Today those beliefs were confirmed. He’ll be VERY active.
I think it’s important to bring this type of news to people’s attention. The White House doesn’t run on its own. Our executive branch is made up of thousands of folks and, although the buck stops with Trump, it’s important to be aware of the key figures affecting decisions.
I wrote this about Kushner on November 16th:
Is Jared Kushner a bad dude or a great dude? I have no idea. I just know he’s heavily involved, despite not being a spotlight guy. And he’s rich as fuck. And he bangs Ivanka Trump. Not sure if we should hate him or love him, but we should definitely be aware of him.
Still believe all of that is true. There are concerns over nepotism laws, which prevent the official hiring of family members, as well as ties to Trump’s company (via Ivanka). In a YUGE presser Wednesday, the Donald is expected to address these things.
