Bouncer At The Middle East Nightclub Fired For Eating A Hamburger During A Show

Boston.com – A bouncer at the Middle East nightclub has been fired after former Bauhaus frontman Peter Murphy complained that the guard was eating a hamburger and fries during his show Friday. Murphy, whose concert at the Cambridge club was sold out, briefly left the stage after confronting the guard about eating so close to the stage during the show. Not famous for his sunny disposition, Murphy told the crowd he would not return until the bouncer was removed. The guard was ushered out and the 59-year-old “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” singer returned to finish the show. A rep for the Middle East told us Tuesday that the guard who had been eating during the show has been fired and a second bouncer involved in the incident has been suspended.

I’m kind of torn on one. Because on the one hand I sorta agree with this singer that the bouncer shouldn’t be eating hamburger and fries. Like would a bouncer do that at a real rock n roll show? No fucking way. It’s amateur hour. You are being paid to do a job. Not to sit side stage and stuff your face. But at the same time this is the Middle East. It’s Central Fucking Square. Legit one of the most bizarre world places on the planet. You’re not playing Madison Square Garden. You don’t want bouncers eating burgers during your show? Sell more tickets so you are playing at more professional music venue. Otherwise shut your mouth and sing the songs asshole.
