A Mathematician Warns That Humankind Has A 1 In 500 Chance Of Being Destroyed This Year

full-1

Daily Mail-
The human race could be on the precipice of a world-ending apocalypse, according to a statistics expert. ‘Our key conclusion is that the annual risk of global catastrophe currently exceeds 0.2 per cent,’ he claims in a new report. The prediction is based on the Doomsday Argument – a probability-based theory that aims to predict the number of future members of the human race based solely on the number of humans born so far. University of Barcelona mathematician Fergus Simpson said that around 100 billion people have already been born, and that the human race is about halfway through it’s lifetime, reports The Sun.

‘At a time when at least eight sovereign states are in possession of nuclear weapons (including one whose leader has executed members of his own family), a head-in-the-sand approach appears both dangerous and irresponsible.

I write this as someone that used to be (and still is to be honest) scared of every Nostradamus prediction that could possibly come true. But at this rate, would anyone really be all that upset if the world ended tomorrow? 2016 has to be the worst year in the history of years. Sure the middle ages were a montage of awfulness forever, but people expected life to suck back then. Born, maybe catch the black plague, die. But everything about 2016 STINKS, which shocks me because 2016 just looked like a nice year. It’s like the number 8 on a quarterback or 80 on a receiver. But as for the actual year, it feels like there a shitload more lowlights than highlights.

The only problem for this wishful thinking is that the person that came up with this is a mathematician. Not some scientist or even a soothsayer. People that willingly chose math as their profession can’t be trusted in the least. Especially when that professional math nerd’s name is Fergus. Complete wild card. Fergie Poo isn’t giving me any concrete historical evidence or science to back this shit up. Just crunched some numbers, carried a few ones and said that humans are fucked sooner or later.
