Andrew Miller Is A Freak Of Nature

Screen Shot 2016-10-15 at 7.31.51 PM

I had written earlier today about how big of a weapon Andrew Miller has been in the postseason, not just for the Tribe, but since be got his first taste of October baseball with the Orioles back in 2014. Here are the updated numbers — in 10 postseason appearances, he’s pitched 16 innings, struck out 27 batters, and has posted an ERA of 0.00. In this postseason alone, he’s appeared in four of the five games Cleveland has played to this point, thrown 7.2 innings, and he’s struck out 17 of the 28 batters he’s faced. Twenty-eight men have faced Miller this postseason, and 61% of them have struck out.

That Blue Jays fan’s face says it all. When the bullpen gate opens, and Andrew Miller comes jogging out, you’re all done. He’s the grim reaper. And the Tribe’s closer, Cody Allen, has been doing his best to keep up with Miller this postseason. Together, they’ve made 8 appearances, pitched 12.2 innings, racked up 25 strikeouts, and have a combined 0.00 ERA. The Indians now lead this series 2-0. Saturdays might be for the boys, but they’re also for six-foot, seven left-handed relievers that throw 98 miles per hour with a wipeout slider. Full writeup tomorrow.
