Goldberg vs Lesnar II, Women's Hell in a Cell Match, And TNA Being Sold to Billy Corgan

Big, big week for wrestling rumors so I thought I’d put them all in one place and touch on the biggest 3. The first broke last night, that a Goldberg return to the WWE is all but imminent, with him facing Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. Call me crazy, but I have very little interest in this match. For starters, Goldberg is 49 years old. I don’t really find him relevant anymore, nor a credible threat storyline-wise to beat Lesnar. The only caveat to that is if they have a huge swerve planned, like Invasion Angle Pt. 2, but I don’t see that coming. And of course, that whole Wrestlemania 20 match between them which was terrible. Do we really need to remind everyone of that again? I’d rather see WWE build someone up to beat Lesnar than see him fight Goldberg. It’ll be good for business because both are still big draws, but right now I’m not crazy about it.

This however, is awesome. Charlotte and Sasha will put their bodies on the line night in and night out. Some call it “reckless” how they wrestle, but they really, really want to steal the show every time. Putting them in Hell in a Cell is crazy. First ever women’s match in the cell, you know something is going to go down. Will one of them take the fall off the cell? Hard to say, but you know they are going to be lobbying to do a show-stealing, career defining spot.

And then this one today. TNA hasn’t really been able to keep the lights on for a while now. Their buzz is as high as it’s been in quite a while, but I don’t think the ratings are following it, nor the cash flow. WWE buying the library is great, because then they can use old TNA clips in video packages. WWE has very recently begun mentioning other promotions, something Vince NEVER did before recently, so having the TNA library is a big step for him. But Dixie Carter not selling to Vince is probably a great thing. Billy Corgan (yes, that Billy Corgan) wants to turn it around and become a viable competitor of WWE. It’s an extremely hard task, but hey, maybe we’re due for the Monday Night Wars round 2.
