NYDNA Missouri journalist’s column headlined “Why I’ll Never Date a Feminist” turned him into one of the top targets of social media mockery of the day Thursday.

St. Joseph News-Press digital editor Dave Hon retweeted one Twitter user who called him a “bald, chubby, zit-faced ogre” as both Hon and the title of his column began trending. Other responses to the article included people who said he may never have a girlfriend again.

The newspaper from the city of 77,000 northwest of Kansas City published the story Thursday afternoon. By Thursday night, Hon himself had become the 13th-ranked trending topic on Twitter and the phrase “Never Date A Feminist” was ranked eighth.

News Press Now - If you look for a reason to hate men, chances are you’re going to find it.

The truth is, I don’t blame women, (especially in my generation) for hating men. They’ve been told there’s a wage gap (I disagree). That there’s a culture of rape on college campuses (I also disagree). And the patriarchy is keeping them oppressed in almost every facet of their lives (I really, really disagree.)

Political issues have been creeping into the bedroom. Now, they’re in romance. Because of the hateful culture, men are now demanding “consent texts” on campus before engaging in raunchy, post-party one night stands. Men’s Rights Activists have taken flight with a new philosophy called “Red Pill” which aims to point out how derogatory, hypocritical and vindictive third-wave feminists can be.

Listen here’s the deal. If you’re going to write an article like this and headline it “Why I’ll Never Date A Feminist” with the sole purpose of going viral, I don’t care how many good points you could possibly make in it – you just can’t have this headshot attached to it.

Can’t do it. Gotta be smarter than. Gotta know not a single god damn person is going to read any of your arguments before hopping on social media to roast your ass.

Is it wrong to jump on you for physical appearances instead of your arguments? Is it petty? Is it immature? Of course. Ever actually opened the internet though?

That’s the part that makes me mad – not the anti-feminist part, but the absolutely astonishing fact that you thought you were going to “encourage debate amongst your small group of friends and peers.”

The single 25-year-old told the Daily News he didn’t foresee his online-only column for the newspaper’s lifestyle magazine for women, Josephine, going viral.

“I expected some backlash among my local group of friends,” Hon said. “As a journalist, I always hope that what I create encourages debate.”

Wake up Dave. It’s the 21st century, you sentient jar of mayonnaise.
