I Had An Interesting Conversation With Dan Shaughnessy About New Media Vs. Traditional Media

From May:

Last week:

If you don’t know the back story here, you can read that in full by clicking here. Just to sum it up real quick, Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe had me all wrong about three months ago. Some of how he felt about me came out in a column of his, which then spilled over into a radio segment on the Sports Hub on Zolak and Bertrand. I appreciated Zo and Beetle having my back there and correcting Dan on some of the incorrect perceptions that he had of me.

That radio segment turned into an email exchange, which turned into a conversation that Dan and I had over beers one night. His goal was to actually understand what it is that I do, what I’m about, and all that shit, which I very much appreciated. Dan asked that I keep that conversation private, so I respected his wishes.

Then, last Friday, he invited me on the Baseball Reporters on the Sports Hub, basically to have a conversation on the air that was similar to what we had privately. Definitely did me a solid. I thought that was really cool of him, because I know that a lot of media members in this town probably look at me the way that Dan did prior to our initial conversation. I’m assuming his intentions with this on-air conversation was to shed some light on what it is that I do here at Barstool so that the media members who have the wrong idea about me can now have a better understanding of what it is that I do, and what I’m about. I enjoyed the conversation, and I figured Stoolies might, too.
