WMU Surprises Walk-On With A Scholarship from Sylvester Stallone

..

KALAMAZOO - Western Michigan University linebacker Kasey Carson received quite a surprise on Saturday.

A preferred walk-on out of Harper Creek High School where he was an All-State running back, Carson was awarded a full-ride athletic scholarship – and the message was delivered by actor Sylvester Stallone.

Like I said before, if you’re gonna do a “walk-on surprise” video, you gotta do something different. Looks like WMU was taking notes.

Fleck then directed his players to watch the big screens at Waldo Stadium. It was a video message from Stallone as well as billionaire Alec Gores, a former kicker for WMU.

“The fact that you are a walk-on and you accomplished this is extraordinary. It’s really amazing,” Stallone said. “It’s being a fighter, it’s taking the blows, getting up and taking it to your opponent when sometimes you are so tired and you don’t think you can do it, but you just find that reserve in there that makes you one step better than you ever thought you could be.”

Stallone continued, “I forgot one thing that’s really important. YOU have gotten a full-ride scholarship my man. You are the man. Keep fighting. Congratulations.. Kasey, we’re proud of you brother.”
